"Helpless" is a thrilling movie directed by Byun Young-joo and based on the novel "Kasha" by Miyuki Miyabe. The story takes place in South Korea and revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a woman named Suyeon. The movie starts with a young couple, Mun-ho (Lee Sun-kyun) and Seon-yeong (Kim Min-hee), planning to get married soon. However, their plans are shattered when Seon-yeong suddenly disappears without a trace. Mun-ho is left with nothing but a strange message from Seon-yeong that says she needs some time alone and that she will be back soon.

At first, Mun-ho is patient and eagerly awaits Seon-yeong's return. However, as days and weeks by without any news from her, Mun-ho becomes increasingly desperate and starts to investigate her disappearance himself. Mun-ho embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about what happened to Seon-yeong, and in the process, he discovers many dark secrets about her past.

As Mun-ho delves deeper into Seon-yeong's life, he discovers that she was not the person he thought she was. Seon-yeong had been living a double life, and her past is riddled with secrets and betrayals. Mun-ho slowly starts to unravel the mystery of Seon-yeong's disappearance and uncovers hidden agendas and motives that threaten to destroy him.

Throughout the movie, Mun-ho is haunted by a powerful sense of helplessness, as he is constantly searching for answers but never seems to be able to obtain them. He is caught in a web of lies and deceit that he cannot seem to untangle or escape from.

The acting in "Helpless" is exceptional. Lee Sun-kyun delivers a stunning performance as Mun-ho, conveying a range of emotions from desperation to grief to anger. Kim Min-hee is equally impressive as Seon-yeong, playing a character that is enigmatic and unpredictable. Jo Sung-ha also delivers a great performance as the mysterious detective who helps Mun-ho in his search for the truth. The chemistry between the three actors is palpable, and their interactions are what make the story so compelling.

The cinematography in "Helpless" is also noteworthy. The movie is shot in a way that creates an eerie, unsettling atmosphere, which perfectly matches the mood of the story. The use of shadows and darkness effectively adds to the feeling of suspense and tension.

One of the themes explored in "Helpless" is the concept of identity. As Mun-ho discovers more about Seon-yeong's past, he realizes that she had been struggling to find her true identity. She had been pretending to be someone she was not, and it ultimately led to her downfall. Mun-ho himself is also struggling to find his own identity as he grapples with the consequences of Seon-yeong's disappearance.

Another theme explored in the movie is the power of deception. Throughout the story, the characters are constantly lying and concealing their true motives. They manipulate each other to achieve their own ends, and this creates an atmosphere of distrust and suspicion among them.

Overall, "Helpless" is a gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The story is well-written, and the acting and cinematography are exceptional. The themes explored in the movie are thought-provoking and add depth to the story. If you are a fan of thriller movies, then "Helpless" is definitely worth checking out.
