Forty one years after the lovers Marcel and Marijke parted, a letter of request from Austria arrives from the Search Service of a City Council looking for Marcel, who has now transitioned into a woman called Marcella and lives Vlaardingen (Holland). His old love Marijke has not forgotten about her Marcel, who she met in a holiday camp when she was 19. Marcel was 17 at that time. They are now both approaching their sixties. The fire is quickly rekindled and soon marriage is in the picture. What do the children and ex partner think of their unusual relationship? Can love conquer all obstacles? From 1991 to 1993, Eveline van Dijck has made a documentary called A Change of View (Anders Bekeken) on Marcella's transition and the turbulence it caused in the relationship with his/her wife and sons. But the family stayed together. Twelve years after A Change of View was filmed, the sons of Marcella and Ada have now families of their own and good jobs. Ada and Marcella divorced after the sons were grown up, but the two remain close, caring for each other when sick. Then, out of the blue, arrives the letter from Marcel's first serious love, Marijke. A Change of View was first broadcast in 1993 in The Netherlands and afterwards in many countries all over the world. Simply Love is a surprise follow-up to this documentary. The film courageously shows rare images of sixty-somethings falling in love in full glory.
